'Twas the Night Before Christmas' Opens Tonight at Kelsey Theatre
The good tidings of the holiday season continue at Kelsey Theatre as The Kelsey Players present "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" Dec. 2 to 4. Based on the classic poem by Clement Moore, it's a holiday musical that is sure to please. Read more about the production here.

Coping with Technology Is Topic for MCCC Lecture Dec. 7
Do you feel overwhelmed by the accelerating use of technology – from phones, to cars, to household appliances? Kevin Bals, principal of High Technology High School, will put it all in perspective! Bals will deliver a lecture entitled “Making the Complex Simple: Learning to Lead in a Technical World” as part of MCCC’s Distinguished Lecture Series at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in room 109 of the Communications Building. The lecture is free and open to the public. Read more here.

Two Proctoring Demonstrations Dec. 7
Two proctoring demonstrations will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7 in CM108. At noon, a Software Secure demo will be offered, with a ProctorU demonstration at 12:30 p.m. For more information, click here.

Mercer County Symphonic Band Winter Concert Dec. 7
The Mercer County Symphonic Band will presents its 2016 Winter Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Kelsey Theater, featuring big band swing, Dixieland selections, baroque and classical music, contemporary compositions, traditional marches and seasonal favorites. 'A Very Kelsey Christmas' Offers Tunes and Laughs Dec. 10 & 11
Kelsey Theatre is bringing out the holly as Forté Productions presents “A Very Kelsey Christmas,” Dec. 10 and 11. In its fun musical salute to the Christmas season, Forté Productions has created a 1950’s style variety show featuring many Kelsey Theatre regulars in a delightful mix of comedy, skits, Broadway and pop favorites, and audience participation.Read more here.

Chorus, Jazz Band to Present Free Concerts Dec. 13 & 14
From chestnuts roasting on an open fire to Earth, Wind and Fire, music lovers will have both traditional and contemporary options with two free concerts by Mercer Music students! The MCCC Chorus will present its winter concert on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m., with the MCCC Jazz Band performing on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Both performances will take place at Kelsey Theatre. Limited Spots Available for Excel Training Dec. 14
A limited number of spots are available for the Beginner Excel Training class on Wed., Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Conference Center, Room 207. MCCC, Georgian Court Sign New Dual Admissions Agreement
MCCC and Georgian Court University last week signed a formal dual admissions agreement allowing MCCC graduates to transfer to GCU with full junior status, and tuition discounts of up to 52 percent. Read more here.

International Education Week Features Special Events, Classes
As Mercer observed International Education Week Nov. 14-18, it was apparent that global education is woven into the fabric of the curriculum in a variety of classes every semester year-round. During the college’s IEW observance, 12 professors invited visitors to sit in on their class discussions about world religions, food and culture, global economics, literature and more. Mercer to Host ‘PlayFest 2017’; Deadline Extended
As part of the yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, Mercer is hosting “PlayFest 2017” in March. While PlayFest organizers have received a number of scripts, they have decided to extend the deadline to Friday, Jan. 6, 2017. Read more here.

Study Abroad Trip To Spain Info Sessions Dec. 13, Jan. 17
The MCCC Center for Global Opportunities is sponsoring a study abroad trip to Spain from May 20 to June 3, which includes accommodations with a Spanish family in Granada, cooking class, a live Flamenco dance show, Tapas tour, and an excursion to Cordoba. The program is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. The cost is $2,500 and includes airfare, meals, accommodations, health insurance, and tuition for SPA110 (three credits). Information sessions are Dec. 13 and Jan. 17, noon to 1 p.m. in LA125. Final payment is due on Feb. 17, with an initial deposit of $200 due on Dec. 9 to guarantee a spot. Visual Arts Prof. Lucas Kelly in Upcoming Show
Visual Arts Professor Lucas Kelly will be displaying two pieces in the "Philly Caj at Ortega y Gasset" exhibition, a show featuring artists from the greater Philadelphia area, at the Old American Can Factory, 363 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. The opening reception is from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 10; closing reception is Jan. 15 from 4-6 p.m. Visit Ortega y Gasset's website here.

Reminders

Through Dec. 12: Athletics Department Food Drive. The Athletics Department is teaming up with the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) for a holiday food drive to benefit Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. Admission is free to the Dec. 3 men's and women's basketball games with a food donation. Non-perishable food items (no glass items please) will be collected in the Fitness Center and in a donation box in front of the Athletics Office in the PE Building. Through Dec. 12: Marines' Toys for Tots Annual Holiday Drive. Kelsey Theatre is an official drop-off site for Toys for Tots. Staff members are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys in the drop box located in the Kelsey Theatre lobby.

Through Dec. 14: American Regional Student Restaurant. The American Regional Student Restaurant will be serving up California cuisine Dec. 7 and Dec. 14. See the menu here. Tickets for are available at the Bursar's Office and must be purchased in advance. The dining room is located in ES111, with seating from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for staff, and $12 for guests. Tables of six or fewer only please! Tickets are valid for the specific date only and there are no refunds. Questions? Email benowitf@mccc.edu.

Through Dec. 14: MCCC Exercise Classes. Exercise classes continue at MCCC, with evening yoga classes on Mondays through Dec. 12, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in PE225; Zumba on Tuesdays through Dec. 13, noon to 1 p.m. in the gym; and lunchtime yoga on Wednesdays through Dec. 14, also from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym, and taught by our very own Helen Tanzini, Professor of Chemistry. (Bring your own mat for yoga.)

Dec. 17: AAWCC Holiday Extravaganza.The MCCC chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) invites the children and grandchildren of college faculty, staff, and students to AAWCC-Mercer’s Second Annual  Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the West Windsor Campus gymnasium. The event features games, crafts, food, prizes, and more! See the flyer here. RSVP by Dec. 2, with your name and the names and ages of the children attending to Tonia Harrison at harrisot@mccc.edu.
