Theatre Students Presentation of 'The Secretaries' Opens Tonight
The secretarial pool at Cooney Lumber Mill sounds like a dream job for young Patty Johnson – until she discovers the darker side of her office gal pals! The academic Theatre program presents “The Secretaries” at the college’s Studio Theatre starting tonight and running through Sunday. Read more here.

Art Show Featuring Prof. Lucas Kelly Opens Saturday in Brooklyn
Visual Arts Professor Lucas Kelly will be displaying two pieces in the "Philly Caj" at the Ortega y Gasset Projects exhibition, a show featuring artists from the greater Philadelphia area, at the Old American Can Factory, 363 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. The opening reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday; closing reception is Jan. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. Visit Ortega y Gasset's website here.

'A Very Kelsey Christmas' Offers Tunes and Laughs This Weekend
Kelsey Theatre is bringing out the holly as Forté Productions presents “A Very Kelsey Christmas” Saturday and Sunday. In its fun musical salute to the Christmas season, Forté Productions has created a 1950s style variety show featuring many Kelsey Theatre regulars in a delightful mix of comedy, skits, Broadway and pop favorites, and audience participation. Deadline for Toys for Tots, Food Drive Donations is Monday
Monday is the deadline for two efforts led by Mercer organizations aimed at helping those in need this holiday season. The Athletics Department is teaming up with the Garden State Athletic Conference for a holiday food drive to benefit Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. Non-perishable food items (no glass items please) will be collected in the Fitness Center and in a donation box in front of the Athletics Office in the PE Building. In addition, Kelsey Theatre is an official drop-off site for Toys for Tots. Staff members are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys in the drop box located in the Kelsey Theatre lobby.

Graphic Design Club Clothing Drive Wraps Up Dec. 13
The MCCC Graphic Design Club will conclude its clothing drive for HomeFront on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Anyone with gently worn or new clothing they would like to donate can drop items off in ES126.

Chorus, Jazz Band to Present Free Concerts Dec. 13 & 14
From chestnuts roasting on an open fire to Earth, Wind and Fire, music lovers will have both traditional and contemporary options with two free concerts by Mercer Music students! The MCCC Chorus will present its winter concert on Tuesday, Dec. 13, with the MCCC Jazz Band performing on Wednesday, Dec. 14. Both performances will take place at Kelsey Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Read more here.

Study Abroad Info Session for Spain Trip is Dec. 13
The MCCC Center for Global Opportunities is sponsoring a study abroad trip to Spain from May 20 to June 3, which includes accommodations with a Spanish family in Granada, cooking class, a live Flamenco dance show, Tapas tour, and an excursion to Cordoba. The program is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. The cost is $2,500 and includes airfare, meals, accommodations, health insurance, and tuition for SPA110 (three credits). Information sessions are Dec. 13 and Jan. 17, noon to 1 p.m. in LA125. Final payment is due on Feb. 17, with an initial deposit of $200 due on Dec. 9 to guarantee a spot. Limited Spots Available for Excel Training Dec. 14
A limited number of spots are available for the Beginner Excel Training class on Wed., Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Conference Center, room 207. AAWCC Holiday Extravaganza is Dec. 17
The MCCC chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) invites the children and grandchildren of college faculty, staff, and students to AAWCC-Mercer’s Second Annual  Holiday Extravaganza on Dec. 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the West Windsor Campus gymnasium. PTK, Muslim Student Association Team Up for TASK
When the MCCC Phi Theta Kappa chapter began planning its community service activities for this semester, they decided to focus on clients at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK). When they discovered that the Muslim Student Association had carried out a project last fall that focused on TASK, the two groups decided to combine their efforts this year. Read more here.

Photography Prof. Michael Dalton Takes Podcast to NYC
MCCC Photography program coordinator Michael Dalton will take his podcast, thePhotoShow, on the road to the School of Visual Arts in New York for his first ever live event. Dalton will moderate a screening and Q&A session with director Martin Bell. Bell and his wife, acclaimed photographer Mary Ellen Mark, made one last documentary film together, “Tiny: The Life of Erin Blackwell,” prior to Mary Ellen's death last year. Still Time to Register for Winter, Spring Terms
Spread the word -- there's still time for new students, current students at MCCC and visiting students home on winter break to catch up or get ahead by earning college credits through accelerated classes during the Winter Session! Registration for spring semester is also open. The start date for Winter Session on-campus classes is Jan. 3; online classes begin Dec. 19. Spring semester begins for most classes Jan. 17. Women’s Soccer Player Janine Dennis Named All-American
For the first time since 2010, a member of the MCCC women’s soccer team has been named to the All-American Team by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Janine Dennis, a sophomore forward from St. Andrews, Jamaica, earned honors as a NJCAA Division I Honorable Mention after finishing sixth in the nation in goals scored. Read more here.

Dec. 14: American Regional Student Restaurant. The American Regional Student Restaurant will be serving up its final meal of the semester, featuring California cuisine on Dec. 14. See the menu here. Tickets are available at the Bursar's Office and must be purchased in advance. The dining room is located in ES111, with seating from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students, $10 for staff, and $12 for guests. Tables of six or fewer only please! Tickets are valid for the specific date only and there are no refunds. Questions? Email benowitf@mccc.edu.

Through Dec. 14: MCCC Exercise Classes. Exercise classes continue at MCCC, with evening yoga classes on Mondays through Dec. 12, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in PE225; Zumba on Tuesdays through Dec. 13, noon to 1 p.m. in the gym; and lunchtime yoga on Wednesdays through Dec. 14, also from noon to 1 p.m. in the gym, and taught by our very own Helen Tanzini, Professor of Chemistry. (Bring your own mat for yoga.)

Jan. 6: Deadline for PlayFest 2017. As part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration, Mercer is hosting “PlayFest 2017” in March. The deadline for submitting a script for consideration has been extended to Friday, Jan. 6, 2017. Read more here.

"All In for Student Success" is the theme of the 2015-16 college and Foundation Annual Report, which includes highlights from the past year and features a number of students who had good things to say about their Mercer experience.
